People's heath and well-being, safety of our operations and respect for the environment are our top priorities.
Since 2001, our Moustier site fulfils the conditions of the "SEVESO II" European Directive, which means that we handle and store products that are considered hazardous.
SEVESO is the name commonly used to designate the European Directive 96/82/CE. This directive has been transformed into all EU member national laws and its objective is to prevent major industrial accidents and limit their effects on human health and the environment, both inside and outside facilities. It applies to industries that handle hazardous products and compels these industries to implement extremely demanding measures in terms of organisation, safety management and control of industrial processes.
Since then, we have stepped up our efforts to further improve facility and people's safety:
Renovation of our storage facilities for nitrogen raw materials and fitting of fire detection systems in all our granulated fertiliser storage warehouses. The new equipment guarantees the highest safety andreliability standards today's technology has to offer.
Revision of all our safety procedures, extensive staff training and implementation of a Safety Management System (S.M.S). These efforts have resulted in the granting of the OHSAS 18001:1999 "safety" certification (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) at the end of 2003. This certification is not an end in itself and compels us to continue improvements, which we have committed to strive for.
